Wake Forest, NC Custom Pool & Hardscape – Case Study

Located on a beautiful wooded lot in Wake Forest, NC, the Fordin residence project involved a custom pool and hardscape to bring style and usability to this outdoor space. The project began with an initial consultation, and the client requested we blend a rustic, natural feel with a clean, modern flair. We also had to deal with an extreme slope in this back yard, further adding to the challenge. The Blue Haven Raleigh team then met to custom-design the Fordin’s new pool and integrated patio and walkway. The resulting design captured our unique style while meeting the client’s goals and navigating the difficult topography of their back yard.

One look at the pictures of this freeform custom pool and hardscape, and it’s easy to see all the unique features we incorporated. The pool is a dramatic three-level design that includes underwater ledges, a gorgeous variable-flow vanishing edge overlooking the woods, multi-color LED lighting system, and a black pebble plaster finish. Water cascades down natural stone waterfalls between each of the three pool levels. We also created a “floating” stone table wet-bar that’s approachable both from the pool and from the lowest patio level.

The hardscape elements of the Fordin project included the integration of rectangular pavers with rough-cut natural stone, creating an artful juxtaposition. We also incorporated large natural boulders and custom landscape plantings to create that rustic yet polished look. The lowest level of the patio features a custom stone fire pit for outdoor enjoyment well into the autumn months. With its exclusive design, this custom pool and hardscape installation breaks up the backyard space in a way that creates many different venues for sitting, dining, swimming, gathering, and, of course, relaxing.
